Pickin' Pigskin: Week 6 Tally

It was gridlock in terms of picking this week, as everyone finished with the same record. We all finished at 6-8, so the records are the overall standings for this year.

Kristin: 52-38
Bob: 51-39
Steve: 45-45

Sigggghhhh. I'm languishing behind the leaders still, six games behind Bob and seven games behind Kristin. I'd like to say that I'm ready to go on a big run, but who the heck knows? My performance to date has been very disappointing.

At least on the plus side, my fantasy football team is still dominating. This week we got 63 points from Mr. Tom Brady, with his six touchdowns and 380 passing yards, primarily in the first half. Even without him, we would have won, since Garrard actually had 25 points this week, and the rest of our team did well - 13 for Mendenhall, 15 for Bowe, 10 for Prater and 18 for Denver's defense and special teams.

I was worried about this week a bit, since Reggie Wayne and Ronnie Brown were on their bye weeks, but our opponent only managed 73 points because of lackluster performances by Eli Manning, Michael Turner and Pierre Thomas. This week should be a tougher match-up for us, as we have to face-off against a team that has Randy Moss and Colston.

  1. You'll get Moss's points plus some, but Colston should be a problem...

As for last week, take it with a grain of salt. A lot of the lines were way too high, and there were some bizarre games (Raiders beat Eagles???). Oh, and that Kelsey Grammer episode was great in part because he didn't show up until the last few minutes of the episode for a bit part. A real bizarre cameo, like James Franco on SNL this week.

  2. I didn't even watch SNL this week because the first two episodes were so disheartening to me. I did catch the Rock Obama and the alien on Sportscenter on Hulu, which were neat to me.

I agree with your take on the lines. I thought this was going to be a good week for games, but outside of a few sharp individual calls on my part - the Rams game, San Diego still quitting on Turner - it was a disappointing week for calling games.

As far as fantasy goes, I'm hoping Colston will have a more normal week as whoever the Saints are playing will probably focus on neutralizing him.
