Pickin' Pigskin: Week 8 Tally

Sigh. Much like Charlie Brown, all three of us picking essentially got a rock for this Halloween weekend of picking football games. The gory, frightening details as follows, with the overall standings in parentheses:

Bob: 5-8 (66-49, first place)
Steve: 5-8 (57-58, third place)
Kristin: 3-10 (62-53, second place)

Bob and I picked up a couple games on Kristin, but it was a pretty miserable week for all three of us. The normal covering stalwarts, the Colts and the Saints, both struggled. The Saints failure was especially egregious, since they were on the cusp of covering at points. I will brag a bit about my inexplicable pick of the Eagles over the Giants, as Donovan McNabb once again inexplicably played up to his competition. I think the Eagles should bench him against the Redskins just to be safe.

On the fantasy football front, that was a bloodbath for me, the first of the year. Tom Brady was on a bye this week, so we had to start David Garrard. So, if you're counting at home, in two fantasy games for me Garrard has about 14 combined points, and his teams have been blown out in reality by about 600 points.

The actual final score for my fantasy game was 101-63, and it's not like we could have made some lineup change to salvage things, as our bench combined to score 15 points. Outside of a 25 from Reggie Wayne, nobody else cracked double digits. Moreno had 9 points, Felix Jones 6, Ronnie Brown TWO, Steve Smith 6, Matt Prater 1 and the San Diego defense 6 against the Raiders.

The Charlie Brown photo comes from here.
